Mandala Thangka Paintings

Mandala paintings are colorful decorative artworks that also serve as spiritual markers or guides. Most, if not all, of these said paintings carry varying translation of Buddhist symbols. Some of these translations eventually become part and parcel of Buddhist art symbols and Buddhist religious symbols themselves.

Many people are now discovering such paintings as worthwhile investments. People from the West, in particular, are especially enthralled with the mandala paintings available in local shops and Internet stores.

Mandala paintings are easily recognizable. These are usually circular in pattern, and look very much like an intricately designed chart filled with Buddhist religion symbols and Zen Buddhist symbols. A few mandala paintings can be very basic: a simple depiction of a mandala would sit in the middle of the paintings and bodhisattvas would be placed all throughout. In many cases, though, mandala paintings would be highly ornamental, with almost every available space decorated with color, shapes and patterns.

Art enthusiasts and Buddhism practitioners sometimes prefer mandala paintings that have specific Buddhist symbols art designs. Among the top favorite Buddhist symbols and images are Buddha, the different bodhisattvas and highly ornamental geometric shapes that usually represents spheres in another realm; (alternate realms are part of Buddhism dogma.)

On the other end of the spectrum, there are people who have less interest in the painted Buddhist language symbols, but would rather look into the craftsmanship poured into the art works. The colorful background alone is enough to entice Western buyers to go for this kind of craft. However, the keen attention to details that many artisans dedicate to each mandala painting is very desirable to art collectors worldwide.

Some of the more intricate pieces can be seen in museums that display Eastern art, particularly Buddhist art and Tibetan art.
